Our largest space converts into a stunning Blackbox Theater, appreciated by performers and audience members for it's intimate ambiance, perfect for enjoying the work of artists from Boston and beyond.

Over it's nearly 30 year history, GSS has been home to several of Boston's most recognized choreographers and dance and theater companies. Our inspiring teachers offer weekly instruction for all levels of experience in Modern, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Bollywood, Flamenco, Balkan, Belly Dance, Hawaiian Dance, Vogue and more.

GSS was founded in 1991 by Ruth Birnberg, Paula Josa Jones, Cheri Opperman, Marcus Schulkind, and Pam White. The collaborative and creative nature of their endeavor lives on, nearly 30 years later, in our vibrant community of dancers and artists. Walk through the long hallway at GSS on any given evening, and you will encounter professional and amateur dancers and artists of all genres, exploring the arts, creating, and performing in our unique space.

We are proud to enrich the cultural life of Central Square, Cambridge and the greater landscape of arts in New England. We invite you to join us to take a class, watch a performance, hone your craft in our studios, or become involved as a donor or volunteer. Let's Dance!
