We are seeking a studio intern to learn all aspects of our professional practice. I am a sculptor using bronze, fiberglass, 3D prints, wood, styrofoam, cement, wax, etc. (www.donnadodsonartist.com) The internship can be very flexible depending on the applicant's needs and availability. This intership could also include working with my partner Andy Moerlein, a versatile sculptor in wood, ceramic, fiberglass, painting and printmaking (www.andymoerlein.blogspot.com). We also work as a collaborative team "The Myth Makers" creating public art using natural materials, and that can be an exciting aspect of this internship as well depending on what projects we are currently working on. You can see our recent projects online, www.themythmakers.blogspot.com. We could also work with interns who know web design and catalog layout, including professional photography if those skills are more in line with what the intern brings to the table.
We are not a large company and this is not a paying position but it is a great opportunity for a young artist that wants to learn the ropes of running a studio practice. Our studio is located in Maynard Mass., but we often work in Boston and on site around the state, New England and the country. We have had many great successes with high school, college and recent grads as interns.
We are looking for a college student who is enthusiastic and self-motivated to learn sculpture techniques such as bronze chasing and polishing, packing and moving sculptures, building pedestal bases, painting sculptures, assisting with public art projects etc. In the past we have mentored some great college students and recent graduates who we enjoy keeping in touch with. Must have the ability to focus, concentrate, work with your hands.
