Set Designer/Manager

We’re a small children’s theatre company in Quincy and Milton MA & we’re looking for a set designer for a December performance of Elf Jr. We’re using backdrops as our main backgrounds so we’re looking for someone who can sit with our director and figure out what pieces we need alongside our backdrops & we’ll most likely borrow furniture needed from the awesome Emerson props warehouse. There may be 1 or 2 pieces that will need to be designed/constructed (ie the window in the NYC apartment and others). We meet Saturdays from 9-2pm in Quincy starting September 7th (tech week is Dec 10-13) with 2 performances on Dec 14th. You would not be required at every rehearsal but would be required at production meetings, tech week and show day itself to manage the sets. Must be available for strike after shows. We can pay $650 for this position & you’ll of course have a separate set budget. Own transportation is a bonus.
Excellent communication skills (answering emails and texts in a timely manner is a must). Experience designing sets for kids shows. Must enjoy being around children and working with a team. Having one's own space to build designs is preferable but we can organize a space if necessary. Must be available some Saturday afternoons for production meetings (especially August 31st for pre-production meeting 10am-12pm)
How To Apply:
