Development and Communications Associate

Creative Action Institute seeks a high-energy people person to help us cultivate and nourish a thriving donor community and engage them through unique convenings and dynamic communications. The role:

Reporting to the Director of Programs and Partnerships, the Development and Communications Associate will grow our individual donor community through unique convenings and inspiring communications.

Development & Communications (100%)

Fundraising (60%)

Event and Fundraising (60%)

- Develop, plan and manage engaging opportunities to cultivate and nourish donors to deepen their commitment to our work i.e. network building; sponsorship development; securing event space, managing guest lists, ticket sales, etc.

- Follow up with donors and attendees after event

- Salesforce data entry and reporting and donor tracking

- Assist with development of inspiring online campaigns (Network for Good, etc.)

- Manage pledge reminders, tax receipts, and thank you notes, create donation reports

- Create and support annual appeals with design, donor lists, mailings, personalized communications

- Conduct foundations research to identify new grant opportunities

- Conduct regular analysis of fundraising efforts for internal benchmarking

Communications (40%)

Website & Social Media (15%)

- Update content as needed; Regularly post and share on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

- Work with international team to create and edit content for social media platforms

- Update and maintain website with current blog posts, programming, and events

Newsletter & Marketing Collateral (25%)

- Gather stories from the field by interacting with partners and staff in Africa, Central America and South America to highlight impact in a monthly newsletter and other communications

- With guidance, update existing and design new promotional documents for current/potential partners, donors, clients

- Manage the creation and dissemination of newsletters, blogs, and other communications materials

Qualifications:

Skills + Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalence in experience

- At least 2-4 years of non-profit fundraising experience

- Knowledgeable about current fundraising best practices

- Excellent writer

- Excellent verbal communicator; comfortable speaking to donors, board members, etc.

- Strong capacity to problem solve independently

- Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once

- Ability to work in a small, dynamic and highly collaborative team

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

- Facility with major social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

- Comfort learning new software

- Ability to manage up and incorporate feedback

- Flexibility and sense of humor

- Ability to travel occasionally

Preferred, but not required

- Graphic design and layout experience and ability to use Adobe products

- Capacity to use: Salesforce, Asana, and Constant Contact

- Experience working for a non-profit that works internationally

Flex time and remote working arrangements can be explored.
