House Manager/Volunteer Coordinator


The House Manager & Volunteer Coordinator is a part-time position (20-25 hours/show week) at New Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre company in residence at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown. The House Manager & Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Patron Services Manager, and is part of the Marketing and Patron Services team at New Repertory Theatre.

The House Manager & Volunteer Coordinator will provide our patrons with a fabulous experience at New Rep, from the moment they walk through door to the moment they leave. Demonstrating phenomenal customer service, and ensuring that our volunteer ushers do the same, is critical.

House Operations

· Coordinate and maintain all promotional materials in the lobby and program stuffers with the Marketing and Development teams.

· Provide excellent customer support – answer patron questions, direct them to restrooms, guide them to their seats, etc.

· Communicate with Box Office staff and Stage Manager in regards to starting and ending performances and intermissions

· Facilitate tidying up the theater post-show

· Submit a House Manager’s Report after the performance

Volunteer Management

· Regularly maintain and update New Rep’s list of ushers and volunteers

· Schedule ushers for each performance, and volunteers for other tasks (mailings, events, etc.) as needed

· Provide usher trainings to ensure the best customer service for our patrons

· Serve as the volunteers’/ushers’ first point of contact with New Rep

Support Box Office as Needed

· As needed, cover box office shifts and help to provide further patron support


· A professional and kind demeanor, and customer service experience is required

· A cooperative attitude and the ability to work as part of a team is required

· The ability to work well under pressure and address problems professionally and effectively is required

· Prior experience as an usher, Box Office Associate and/or House Manager is preferred

· A passion for theatre is strongly preferred
