The Company:

The Bay Colony Performing Arts Academy has been offering performing arts classes in musical theatre, acting, dance, music, and visual arts to students in pre-school through high school since 1999.

Job Details:

The Bay Colony Performing Arts Academy is growing and looking to add to our staff for the 2019-2020 year! We’re in search of passionate, creative, organized, and hard-working teachers in such disciplines as musical theatre, dance, acting, voice, music, instruments, and anything else you might bring to the table!

Hours:

Based on availability.

Applicants must be available from September 2019 – June 2020.

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

· A strong commitment to the students, including consistent attendance in class and the understanding that the students are the top priority!

· Provide students with a solid technical foundation for the chosen discipline

· Help students to develop their skills and their understanding of the chosen artform

· Work with students to produce an age and level-appropriate presentation for performance at the end of each semester

o Musical Theatre (Director/Choreographer)

§Block all scenes, choreograph and stage all musical numbers for the chosen production

§Develop, communicate, and realize a clear vision for the piece

§Work with students to develop characters, establish objectives, and understand character arc

o Musical Theatre (Music Directors)

§Teach all music for the show to students

§Work with students to develop their voices as instruments for the purposes of the chosen production

§Accompany final performance with accompaniment tracks or piano

o Dance

§Choreograph and teach a piece, demonstrating the skills learned in class over the course of the semester

o Acting

§Block all scenes for the chosen production

§Develop, communicate, and realize a clear vision for the piece

§Work with students to develop characters, establish objectives, and understand character arc

o Voice & Instruments

§Work with students to prepare a song, demonstrating the skills learned in lessons during the course of the semester

· Provide a positive learning environment in which students feel supported, comfortable, and able to grow and thrive

· Communicate with parents in a positive, informative way

· Educate students on the chosen discipline


Qualifications:

· Preferred, but not required:Bachelor’s degree (completed, or in-progress) in a major related to theatre, dance, music, or education

· Music Directors and Voice & Instrument Teachers:Ability to read music and play piano proficiently.

· Experience and ability to work with children and teens

· Experience and ability to work with students of varying ages and levels

· Ability to use and teach proper terminology within the chosen discipline

· Previous training in the chosen discipline

· Excellent leaderships skills, including the ability to motivate students

· Top-notch organizational skills

· Good time-management skills

· Ability to work well and communicate with others

· Creative

· Upbeat personality

· CPR/First Aid Certification (must be completed by Saturday, September 7th)

· Valid MA driver’s license and access to a vehicle


Additional Skills For Consideration (Not Required):

· Previous experience or interest in administrative work

· Previous experience or interest in costuming, prop-making, or set-design

· Previous experience or interest in play-writing

· Previous experience or interest in lighting or sound
