Operations Manager


The Operations Manager works with the Executive Director and supervises a Part-Time Bookkeeper to:

1. Ensure ArtsBoston’s day-to-day operations run smoothly

2. Lead Human Resources and Finance functions

3. Support a wide range of critical operational administrative duties



· Ensure all aspects of ArtsBoston Financial systems and processes run smoothly

· Lead annual budgeting process and ensure annual goals are monitored

· Work with bookkeeper on weekly, monthly, and annual finance reporting – including annual audit and required filings

· Create budgets and financial tracking for grants and programs

· Work with Treasurer to lead Finance Committee communications and meetings

· Work with Executive Director on long-range financial planning

Human Resources

· Administer HR paperwork and reporting including payroll processing.

· Ensure all HR systems are up to date an in compliance with all regulations

· Create onboarding process and materials for new hires that reflects organizational culture

· Coordinate ongoing trainings to build team morale and ensure a joyous, respectful work environment

· Maintain and expand employee benefits and ensure participation

· Act as point person for any HR questions or issues that arise

Operations and Administration

· Execute and maintain leases, contracts, and vendor relationships

· Maintain infrastructure and technology systems with IT consultants

· Oversee office management, including supply orders and organization, and equipment maintenance needs

· Manage logistics and record-keeping for staff, Board, and other meetings.

· Other duties as required


· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); 3-5 years of experience working in non-profit finance or operations

· Excellent writing skills with a demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, including editing and creating original materials

· Knowledge of and passion for Greater Boston’s performing and visual arts communities

· Knowledge of non-profit accounting

· Good judgment with the ability to effectively manage the expectations of others, make sound decisions within the scope of the job, and elevate issues as needed

· An optimistic attitude and ability to motivate people

· Demonstrated ability as a “self-starter” who shows the initiative to carry assignments beyond the original instruction in anticipation of future opportunities

· Strong organizational skills, deadline and service driven, and team oriented

How To Apply:

This position is full-time, Mon-Fri with occasional weekend and evening hours required for special events. Salary is commensurate with experience but budgeted at approximately $50,000 - $55,000.
