Pottery Teacher

Description:
The Brookline Arts Center (BAC) is seeking a pottery teacher to work with children, teens and/or adults starting this fall. The teacher will be responsible for providing overall class goals and objectives, developing class content within the current framework of the BAC’s ceramics program, and providing a supportive environment for students.
The BAC's popular ceramics classes focus on wheelthrowing and handbuilding fundamentals, as well as pattern and decorative glazing techniques. We are looking for a teacher who enjoys working with children, teens, and adults to teach classes for these age groups.
The BAC is looking to place an instructor in the following class (each day and time listed is a separate class):

Adult Pottery and Wheelthrowing:
Mondays September 23 – December 9, 2019 (No class 9/30, 10/14, or 11/11) 6:30pm-9:30pm

Tuesdays September 24 – December 3, 2019 11:00am – 2:00pm

Tuesdays September 24 – December 3, 2019 6:30pm – 9:30pm

Thursday September 26 – December 12, 2019 (No class 11/21 or 11/28) 11:00am – 2:00pm

Sunday September 29 – December 15, 2019 (No class 10/20, 11/24 or 12/1) 10:00am – 1:00pm

Sunday September 29 – December 15, 2019 (No class 10/20, 11/24 or 12/1) 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Children’s Classes Ages 8-12:
Tuesdays September 24 – December 3, 2019 3:30pm – 5:30pm

Saturdays September 28 – December 14 (No class 10/19, 11/23 or 11/30) (10:00am – 12:00pm)

Children’s class Ages 4+:
Saturdays September 28 – December 14 (No class 10/19, 11/23 or 11/30) (1:00pm –2:30pm)

Qualifications:
• Excellent knowledge of ceramics.
• Experience teaching and creating curriculum for ceramics classes.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of general safety rules and basic first aid.

• Professional and patient.

• Ability to work effectively in teams and individually.

• Knowledge of safe ceramic materials and care of studio space.

• MA in Ceramics, Studio Art or Art Education preferred or equivalent work experience.
