Drawing Teacher for Ages 8-12 and Teens


The Brookline Arts Center (BAC) is seeking an art teacher to work with children and teens from ages 8-12 and 13-17 for two drawing and illustration classes beginning in the fall. The teacher will be responsible for providing overall class goals and objectives, developing class content and curriculum and providing a nurturing environment for children and families. Class dates and descriptions are as follows:

Draw like a Profor Ages 8-12

Thursdays (10 wks), September 26 – December 12 from 3:30-5:30pm (No class November 21 or November 28)

Class Description:

Strengthen your drawing skills in this fun and challenging class. Through a series of weekly exercises and sketchbook practice, students will polish their ability to render the world around them. Children will explore different drawing materials and techniques including cartooning, drawing from observation, proportional drawing and more. No class 11/21 or 11/28.

Drawing and Illustration for Ages 13-17

Mondays (9 wks), September 23 – December 9 from 3:30-5:30pm (No class September 30, October14, or November 14)

Class Description:

Learn the fundamentals of painting, including color mixing, building layers and utilizing various brush strokes. This course explores plein air painting, still-life and personal projects. Students will work primarily in oils and also have the chance to try acrylics and watercolors.


- Excellent knowledge of child development.

- Experience teaching and creating curriculum for children aged 12 and under and teens.

- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

- Knowledge of general safety rules and basic first aid.

- Professional and patient.

- Exceptional drawing skills.

- Ability to interact with and engage children and families.

- Ability to work effectively in teams and individually.

- Knowledge of art materials and general care of studio space.

- MA in Art Education preferred or equivalent work experience.
