STEAM After School Club Teacher

Description: SMARTS is looking for an energetic, creative instructor for an arts/STEAM-based afterschool program for children grades 2-4, called Imagination Generation Lab. The program takes place in the fall and spring at several elementary schools in Attleboro, MA. Hours are generally 3:15-4:45 PM, 2-3 days week for 6 weeks. Exact timing will vary slightly based on individual school schedules. The after school program provides arts-based STEAM related hands on experiences in a fun, relaxed environment. All materials are provided. Class size is 10-15 children.

This dynamic multifaceted arts organization provides people of all ages with discipline-based and interdisciplinary training, education and performance experiences in architectural design, creative writing, dance, drama, film/video, music, vocal, visual arts, and STEAM, with a focus on the creative process, developing imagination, and collaboration. SMARTS offers programs and events for students and community, professional development, partnerships with local, regional, and state arts organizations and universities, and strong advocacy for arts education in our schools.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: We seek someone with classroom management skills, art/design teaching ability, a love for young children and energy, passion, and free spirit to make this a fun after school experience. Contract teachers, teaching artists, recent college graduates and current college students are encouraged to apply.

· Experience and passion working with elementary school children in the arts and/or STEAM (school or camp ok - any formal or informal classroom)

· Available after school hours from 3-5 PM

· Reliable transportation

· Entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of fun!

· Ability to make a 6 week commitment to teaching the program, 2-3 days/wk.

· Must pass state-mandated background check.

Compensation: TBD based on experience
