The Boston New Music Initiative (BNMI) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to dedicate a few hours (typically 1-3 hours) per week to support the organization’s day-to-day operations. BNMI doesn’t maintain a physical office location, so most responsibilities can be performed online and with a flexible schedule. We’re sensitive to busy schedules (we all have those ourselves!) and work to accommodate the schedules of our volunteer staff as much as we can.
We’re looking for people who are organized, passionate about music and the arts, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have an interest in developing skills and/or developing a career in arts administration, artistic planning, and project management.
Our volunteer staff consists of full-time music professionals, as well as professionals in industries such as information technology, nonprofits, higher education, and project management. We volunteer our time because we are passionate about promoting the performance of music by living composers, and advancing the careers of our membership, who consist of performers, composers, conductors, and music administrators. BNMI’s leadership is committed to improving career opportunities for its volunteer staff, and looks to serve as a resource to provide valuable hands-on experience, training, and mentorship whenever possible.
