Youth Underground Coordinator

Description:

Central Square Theater (CST), seeks a dynamic individual to contribute to CST’s growing Education Department through the support and management of CST’s signature education program, Youth Underground (YU). YU is CST’s resident youth performance ensemble (ages 13-25), creating and performing original theater that investigates social issues relevant to young people and our world. YU’s current play,Act Up & Vote!, explores voting and civic activism and will tour extensively throughout Greater Boston during the 2019-20 season. The YU Coordinator will develop and implement plans for community outreach, marketing and social media presence, tour logistics, and support for the program’s youth, families, and community partners.

Duties and Responsibilities


Primary responsibilities of the YU Coordinator include:

- Managing booking, casting, contracts, payment tracking, and all other logistical/administrative details for YU touring performances
- Outreach and coordination with diverse stakeholders, including youth, families, school teachers and administrators, CST Teaching Artists, community partners, funders, board members, and others
- Design and maintenance of YU’s web and social media presence
- Coordination with Marketing to develop and implement a comprehensive YU marketing plan
- Assist the Education Manager and Development Manager with grant writing and reporting to support the YU ensemble and tour
- Creating or overseeing the creation of Study Guides, Tour Packets, and other supplemental materials needed for YU touring shows
- Data collection and analysis for program improvement and reporting to funders
- Share in supervision of Education intern(s)
- Other duties as needed

Qualifications:

Undergraduate or graduate degree in theater, education, arts administration, or similar, or equivalent experience. Experience in teaching or performing youth theater a plus. Administrative experience in a theater, arts, or non-profit grassroots environment, specifically with experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders. Passion for theater education is essential. The ideal candidate appreciates the power of theater to transform the lives of young people.

Additionally, these skills are essential:

- Highly literate in G-Suite and Google (or Word/Excel);
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with a positive attitude;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, with and without hard deadlines;
- Creativity and resourcefulness required;
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff across departments;
- Calm, flexibility, and a sense of humor.


Most work will happen at CST’s Offices in Cambridge, though remote work is also possible. Schedule can be regular or flexible. Some evening/weekend work may be required.
