Scenic Carpenter 19-20 Emerson Stage season

Description:

Department of Performing Arts/Emerson Stage at Emerson College seeks Scenic Carpenter for temporary, full-time work to support the Technical Director, Master Carpenter and student staff for the 2019-20 season. May be required to assist/support other areas (props, paints, etc.).

  • Dates: August 26 -December 17, 2019 (Emerson College is closed Weds, Nov 27 through Sunday, Dec 1) and January 6 – May 1, 2020; 28-35 hrs/wk.
  • Skills required: strong building skills, crew supervision for load-in, tech, load-out, all performed with the highest safety standards and practices. Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, work independently, read and interpret build plans, climb a ladder to 25 feet, lift objects up to 50 pounds, valid driver’s license. Ability to maintain shop housekeeping and communicate effectively.
  • Skills preferred: drafting, rigging, welding, and automation; prior experience in a supervisory capacity in a theater or performing arts environment; previous experience working in a college setting with students. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Schedule: MWF 12noon-6pm; TR: 10am-6pm, occasional Sunday strikes; with one hour for lunch; other night/weekend hours possible.
  • Pay rate: $20-$23/hr depending on experience level and skills.
