Education Programs – Artistic Creative Manager Consultant


The Freedom Trail® Foundation is seeking a candidate for the Education Programs – Artistic Creative Manager Consultant position. Ideal candidate must be a proficient multi-tasker, able to establish priorities, and achieve objectives within established time frames. The Foundation’s education programs include interactive traveling classrooms held in elementary schools throughout the Commonwealth.


Maintain and build the successful in-school education programs, including, but not limited to:

Improving the quality of performance and educational aspects of the programs, as well as developing new materials and/or programs

Managing all education programs’ participants, including hiring and training conducting rehearsals with program participants, including seasoned as well as new participants

Acting as a Foundation liaison to schools and school districts

Communicating with Foundation team members using Excel spreadsheets, Google docs, and Microsoft Outlook regarding education programs

Developing new programs and existing programs’ sections for continued growth and to offer schools more teaching options (e.g. African Americans in the American Revolution, and Lexington and Concord)

Coordinating with Freedom Trail Foundation team and education program participants to inquire about and implement suggested improvements, including, but not limited to, repairing or ordering backdrops, props and costumes, script changes, blocking changes, and day to day logistics

Assisting to schedule participants and drivers

Maintaining existing and acquiring new props and costumes

Working with Foundation team on all aspects of education programs and in-school visits

Assisting with other education program duties, as required


4-year college degree – B.A. Theatre preferred; experience in play writing with strong production/directorial and supervisory skills; understanding of the balance between educational theater and maintaining acting values, while reinforcing teaching points; strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; ability to respond promptly and effectively to partners; ability to balance changing priorities; deliver work of appropriate quality on time; and knowledge of American history, a plus.
