The mission of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Inc. is to foster and maintain an organization dedicated to the making of music consonant with the highest aspirations of the musical art, creating performances and providing educational and training programs at the highest level of excellence. Through seven different components— the Boston Symphony, the Boston Pops, Tanglewood, the Tanglewood Music Center, the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, the Tanglewood Learning Institute, and Symphony Hall—the organization brings music into the lives of millions of people every year.

The BSO’s Corporate Partnerships department works with major sponsors to create integrated marketing programs that support both the BSO mission and marketing, advertising and public relations opportunities for companies interested in high-profile branding opportunities. The Corporate Partnerships department is looking to work with one intern to support a four- person team from August 2019 through December 2019 for approximately ten hours per week, with allowances for holidays and school vacations. Alternative schedules or time periods may be considered. Work will take place primarily onsite at Symphony Hall.

In addition to the responsibilities below, this is an opportunity to make connections at the BSO, learn about corporate fundraising and marketing, and experience the work environment of a world-class, thriving arts institution.

Corporate Partnerships Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Organize promotional collateral for annual sponsorship recaps

· Update and organize departmental archives including program books, brochures, and advertising materials

· Assist with preparation of major corporate sponsor-related and business partner-related events, including possible day-of preparation and assistance, on an as-needed basis

· Organize and execute mass-mailing projects

· Assist with donor benefit fulfillment as needed

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· Must receive college credit for internship participation; this position is unpaid

· Must be available from August 2019 to December 2019 at a minimum

· Strong attention to detail

· Strong communication skills

· Excellent organization skills

About this Organization:
The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Inc., was founded in 1881 and is comprised of major sub-organizations including Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Music Center, Days in the Arts, Tanglewood Festival Chorus, the Boston Pops, Esplanade Pops, and the Chamber Players.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra performs in historic Symphony Hall from October through May under the direction of Maestro Andris Nelsons. The Boston Pops Orchestra, under conductor Keith Lockhart, performs in Symphony Hall during May and June in addition to, annual series Holiday Pops concerts in December. In July and August the orchestra performs at Tanglewood, its summer home in the magnificent Berkshires of western Massachusetts. The administrative offices of the BSO employ approximately 175 people.
