Teaching Artist for Wellesley Theatre Project’s Fall 2019


Wellesley Theatre Project is currently hiring teaching artists/teachers for Fall 2019. WTP is a nonprofit year round theatre program that runs classes and production rehearsals in Wellesley, MA. Students range from 4-18 years old.

Classes Include:

From Page to Stage!, Pre-K
Thursday 4-5pm

Every week a new story comes to life through creative drama, movement activities, and arts and crafts. Students will engage in an interactive exploration of beginning theatre, classic and current children’s literature, and nursery rhymes. The final day of class will feature a "Shareformance".

Theatre in a Trunk,Kindergarten - 1st Grade
Tuesday 3:30 - 4:30pm
A new adventure begins each week as actors discover treasures in a trunk and bring characters to life through creative drama and movement. Class features an interactive exploration of beginning theatre, classic and current children’s literature. The final day of class will feature a "Shareformance”.

Acting Class:
2nd-5th Grade, Friday 4-5pm

This acting class is great for everyone! Students will study the techniques of theatre while building foundational acting skills and theatre vocabulary. Students will explore theatre through games, monologues, scene work, character building, and improvisation. The final day of class will feature a "Shareformance”.

6th-12th Grade
Friday 5-6pm

Students will create characters and scenes through games and exercises that build confidence, self- reliance, concentration and teamwork. The final day of class will feature a "Shareformance".


Prospective candidates must have:

  • Must have a background in drama, musical theatre, and/or theatre education with considerable experience as a Teaching Artist or Educator.
  • Experience working with children and/or teaching.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher preferred, in relevant area of drama/theatre arts.
  • Knowledge of classroom management is a plus.

In addition to the items listed above, Wellesley Theatre Project expects the following of each employee: adheres to policies and procedures; works to create a positive learning environment for the students; be a role model of professional theatre etiquette; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; participates in Wellesley Theatre Project events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.
