Compensation is $8000 for the season.


JOB DESCRIPTION


The Technical Director in collaboration with the Theater Director, provides technical theater instruction and design in an effort to provide students with a comprehensive, high-quality theater experience.


Tyngsborough Public Schools is looking for a Technical Director to support the following four theatrical productions for the 2019/2020 season:


- Middle School Musical (Jan/Feb 2020)
- High School Festival Show (Feb/Mar 2020)
- Middle School Festival Show (May 2020)
- High School Musical (May 2020)


Responsibilities


Scenic design, construction and paint for the theatrical sets and props, as well as lighting and sound design implementation


.Educating students on the safe use of tools, building and painting techniques, proper use of lighting and sound equipment is central for this position.


Recruiting and training a group of Tyngsborough students and parents to plan and execute designs for each production. In particular, training student technicians to be leaders who take on more challenging and complex work as they move through the program at TPS.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate or graduate degree with a Technical Theater focus and/or several years of similar professional experience.

Knowledge of all facets of theatrical production - in particular must happen have Scenic Experience.

Ability to instill, by example, a collaborative approach to production.

Ability to provide clear guidance to students and parents

Ability to work late afternoon, evening and weekend hours throughout the production process.

A desire to create high quality, competitive theatre.

About this Organization:
Tyngsborough’s Theatre department encompasses the middle school and high school. Between the two schools at least five productions are done each year, winning awards through METG and the TAMY’s.
