Box Office & Visitor Services Associate


Job Description:

The Box Office and Visitor Services Associate is responsible for all aspects of ticketing events at Mechanics Hall. The Box Office Associate is also the first contact for clients and visitors and serves as the Hall’s Liaison to the public.
The Box Office and Visitor Services Associate will perform various ticketing functions and processing in support of client and Mechanics Hall events and will work with the Sales team and Event Operations Manager to satisfy client needs. The Box Office and Visitor Services Associate will establish controls and accountability for tickets and money in accordance with company standards. Additionally, this position will provide standard settlement documentation in support of all ticket activity at the conclusion of each event.

The Box Office and Visitor Services Associate position is 20 hours weekly with no benefits. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday. Scheduled work hours can be somewhat flexible and the employee must be willing to work additional hours when needed. Work may include evening or weekend hours.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire ticket process from client ticketing contract and event creation through event-day box office operations and settlement.
  • Coordinate with Eventbrite as primary contact and assists clients with all ticket-related issues.
  • Interact as a management representative to resolve ticket related guest situations and problems as required.
  • Maintain and oversee box office cash handling requirements.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, directing to appropriate staff
  • Maintain ticket scanning equipment and offers ticket-taking instruction and support to ushers to ensure standard practice and appropriate client support
  • Assist in administrative functions such as office supply orders, calendar coordination and scheduling, event signage preparation, event archiving, kitchen and refrigerator organization, and copying
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • 2-3 years of ticketing experience in an event space or other cultural facility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Experience and enthusiasm for working with clients and the public
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of front of house activities
  • Flexibility, and enthusiasm for new projects, as designated by management
  • Demonstrated ability working in high pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple tasks while under tight deadlines and financial constraints
  • Proven ability in conflict resolution in a high profile/high volume environment

· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications including Word, Publisher, Excel.

· Sense of humor highly recommended.
