King's Chapel is a National Historic Landmark, historic site along Boston’s Freedom Trail, and active Christian Unitarian house of worship. King’s Chapel is open almost daily year-round through its History Program to share the congregation’s and building’s 333-year history with visitors from across the country and around the world.
Our historic building at 58 Tremont Street in Boston is open to the public 7-days/week for guided tours and history exhibits exploring three centuries of social and religious history in Boston. During the summer tourist season, King's Chapel hosts thousands of visitors each day.
King’s Chapel is seeking a Visitor Services and Safety Associate to provide professional security and visitor services at our chapel for our church and staff. The ideal candidate will become an integral part of our team, trained alongside the History Program Educators, and have excellent visitor service skills, being able to genuinely welcome visitors to our church and historic site while enforcing visitor policies and ensuring the safety and security of the building and the people within it.
Duties include:
Provide a safe and pleasant experience for visitors to the King’s Chapel History Program through welcoming and orienting visitors to the historic site and providing basic historical information and assisting visitors with their inquiries, often working at the front desk
Ensure safety, security and well-being of all staff, visitors and the premises
Support History Program staff throughout the day
Enforce the Visitor Code of Conduct, including removing violators from the property
Follow procedures for fire and theft prevention, and responding to other emergency situations
Patrol and secure premises and identify risks to staff, members and guests
Hours:
Typically start at 10 AM and end at 4 PM. Hours vary with tourist season. Must be available weekends.
Position to start immediately upon successful reference and CORI check.

Qualifications:
Requirements:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 1 year security or related experience
Minimum of 2 years visitor or customer service experience
Experience in de-escalation and handling difficult situations; must be able to remain calm under stress
Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Strong attention to detail
Interest in history and working with the public
Strong customer service background or experience
Professionalism, Dependability, Judgment, Surveillance Skills
Ability to work on one’s feet for at least 60 minutes at a time
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience working with Boston’s unhoused and homeless populations
Experience working in a historic site or museum is a plus
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification strongly preferred
NARCAN training
Fluency in a language other than English desirable but not required
Must pass CORI check
Must participate in mandatory de-escalation and boundary setting training
