PEM is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to coordinate and perform confidential and diversified reporting and reconciliation duties as a member of the Accounting department team. Reporting to the Controller, this position is also responsible for analyzing and reconciling processed financial information to ensure integrity, completeness, and timeliness of information on the General Ledger.Working with Accounting team members and other key contacts, this role will also be the point person for the organization’s accounting software, developing and maintaining system interfaces, ensuring adherence to internal controls and that PEM’s accounting technology is properly leveraged for effectiveness and efficiency. The position interacts with other departments of the Museum for corporate card expense tracking, fixed asset tracking, accounting and reporting, monitors cash levels, and keeps all appropriate personnel informed. In addition to preparing assigned journal entries for month-end general ledger close, the Senior Staff Accountant conducts various complex account and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
The Senior Accountant must have a minimum five years of relatable experience, preferably in a non-profit setting, experience coordinating a variety of different tasks in a fast-paced environment, and experience with computerized ledger systems. Strong organizational skills, the ability to research and analyze information, and attention to detail are important qualities, as well as the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels and across all departments. Solid knowledge of accounting principles, experience working with ADP Workforce Now payroll and time and attendance systems, Microsoft Office, and Blackbaud’s Financial Edge are a plus.
A BA in Accounting or related program or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. CPA is a plus.
