Society of Arts and Crafts
100 Pier 4 Blvd.
Boston, MA 02210
Established in 1897, the dual mission of The Society is to encourage the creation, collection and promotion of the work of contemporary craft artists and to advance public appreciation of fine craft. The Society's vision is to be a contemporary craft organization on par with other major cultural institutions in the Boston area, to provide critical support to a thriving community of artists and allied professionals and serve as the premier destination for artists, collectors and general craft enthusiasts.
The Society provides services for the regional, national and international craft community. Programs include: presenting four exhibitions per year; supporting craft artists through the sale of their work in The Society's retail and exhibition galleries and at CraftBoston; granting the The Society's Artists Awards; presenting the Medal for Excellence in Craft Award; administering the John D. Mineck Furniture Fellowship; sponsoring lectures, tours, and an artist mentor program; and providing intern and volunteer opportunities. The Society’s programs and services directly benefit over 50,000 individuals each year.
