The Ipswich Museum was originally founded in 1890 as the Ipswich Historical Society. It owns and operated the 1677 Whipple House, the 1800 Heard House and the Knight House which is a reproduction building of the 17th century used for education purposes. Both properties are filled with original architectural detail, furnishings and artifacts that give visitors a glimpse into the lives of early Ipswich residents. House tours are given seasonally and education programs are offered all year.
